Elizabeth Panetta - LICSW

licensed INDEPENDENT clinical social worker

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here taking this time for yourself and look forward to connecting with you.

My name is Elizabeth Panetta (they/she) and I am a mental health professional, educator, and clinical supervisor with over nine years of experience. Within my own clinical practice, I prioritize lenses based in disability justice, decolonization, harm reduction, sex positivity, and antiracism. As a queer, biracial, and non-binary person, I am firmly rooted in holistic and person-centered care that recognizes the impact of systems upon the individual.

When we meet, I want you to feel safe and accepted while being vulnerable with me. I specialize in working with gender-diverse people who have experienced trauma and who need extra support during times of change and adjustment. I also enjoy supporting children and adolescents in exploring their own identities and mental health. I have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, ranging from people who are currently unhoused to recent immigrants and refugees. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am trained in several shorter-term therapeutic evidence-based interventions such as letters of support and preparation for gender-affirming medical interventions, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Together we can tailor sessions to best support you.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Human Services at Loyola University Chicago and my Master’s in Clinical Social Work at the University of Chicago. I grew up in the Twin Cities and am so excited to be back home.  When I’m not connecting in a therapeutic setting, you can find me biking to the movies, trying out new coffee shops, checking out way too many books at the library, and snuggling with my cats Winnie and Olive.
