Kate Kessler
Clinical Trainee - Practicum
Hello and welcome! My name is Kate!
I work with individuals six and up, with a special interest in working with teens and young adults. I am a queer therapist and am passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community. I have a background in the arts as a painter, writer, and actor (I even double majored in Theater!), so I love incorporating creativity and art therapy of all kinds into our work together. Outside of therapy, my interests include baking, watching movies, and playing TTRPGs with friends.
I specialize in anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, body image concerns, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with people struggling with perfectionism and a harsh inner critic. My approach to therapy is person-centered and collaborative, meaning I aim to work with you to create goals that feel right to you. I also integrate a feminist and multicultural lens into my work. My hope is to create an environment where you feel safe and supported in exploring your values and creating a life that is authentically your own.
I’m a master’s-level counseling intern practicing under the supervision of Jessica Van Berkum, MA, LMFT; available for telehealth and in-person therapy in White Bear Lake and Loring Park.
