Kate Kessler

Master’s level counseling intern

Hello and welcome!

I’m a master’s-level counseling intern practicing under the supervision of Jessica Van Berkum. Being in this phase of training means I bring to you the latest research, tools, and perspectives, and I receive ongoing supervision to ensure you’re receiving thoughtful, high-quality care. I bring fresh energy, curiosity, and a deep commitment to our work together. My approach to therapy is person-centered and collaborative, meaning we’ll work together to help you create a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and truly your own.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but my hope is that through empathy (and just the right amount of humor), we can build a space where you feel safe, supported, and free to show up exactly as you are.

As a queer therapist, I’m especially passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I also enjoy supporting clients through life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. With a background in the arts, I’m always open to incorporating creative and expressive modalities, including art therapy, into our work together.

I see individuals ages 6 and up, and I look forward to meeting you wherever you are in your journey.

Kate is available both virtual and in person at White Bear Lake and Loring Park.
